Sports and Nutrition

What your baseball player eats before or between games can have a huge impact on how he/she feels out on the field.  Of course we all know that the best things to avoid are heavy food and junk food, but I wanted to put together a list of foods that are good go to pre game foods.

  • PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH- will definately satisfy the hunger and a great source of protein.
  • OATMEAL- just don't go over board or it will sit heavy
  • GRANOLA AND YOGURT- Refreshing on those hot days and satisfying
  • FRUIT OF ANY KIND- Remember watermelon has alot of just that WATER so this will help to keep them hydrated
  • SALAD- The lettuce is also a great source of water and will help to keep your ball player hydrated.
  • STRING CHEESE- Good protein and satifisfying.
  • BAGEL w/ CREAM CHEESE OR PEANUT BUTTER- Yum!
Those are just some good examples for your ball player.  For those of you that are new to the sport, it is always easy to just run to the snack bar and grab some nachos, a hot dog, etc. for your ballplayer between games just keep in mind that you want your child to perform the best they can (FOR THEM, not for us as parents.  The better they perform, the better they feel about themselves and of course the better the team does!!!) and pre-planning and throwing in a few sandwiches and snacks is easy to do.
